The Project



The SMART TOUR project is part of the INTERREG V-A Cooperation Program "Greece - Cyprus 2014-2020" and is co-financed by the European Union (ERDF) and by National Resources of Greece and Cyprus.

The object of the project is to upgrade the tourist identity and the "tourism product" of the reference areas by highlighting their common characteristics, making them more attractive, highlighting the possibility that exists to offer in a "sustainable way", a wealth of experiential experiences to the visitor in short time and short distances,  surpassing the usual "sun-sea" tourism product, surpassing the usual "sun-sea" tourism product offered, and adding more important and enviable experiences related to ancient and modern culture, history and maritime tradition.

The Region of Crete is the Principal Beneficiary of the project, the main person responsible for coordinating the act. The remaining beneficiaries of the program are the General Secretariat of the Aegean and Island Policy - Greece and the Association of Cyprus Tourism Enterprises - Cyprus. The SMART-TOUR project has started its implementation in 2021, is expected to be completed by September 2023 and has a total budget of €1,600,000.00. The project is co-financed by the European Union (ERDF) and by national resources of Greece and Cyprus.
